Now that equal marriage is legal (in England and Wales at least), we wanted to share with you a selection of offerings from our wedding and civil ceremony directory.

All the venues, vendors and services listed in our directory are pink friendly, and, over the next few months, we’ll be showcasing a small selection of them.

Remember to visit our website where you’ll find even more choice. We cover the whole of the UK, and our directory is totally free to use.
In this first post, we’re featuring four of the more unique venues featured on the site. These aren't chain hotels, conference halls or regular country homes but stand-out, statement venues offering a lick of something different for your wedding or civil partnership.

In West Lothian, Scotland is the Vu Water Lily. This superb venue, surrounded by the Bathgate Hills, sits in the middle of the Ballencrieff Reservoir. Floor to ceiling windows around much of the venue will give your guests an undisturbed view across the water. “A wedding, a wedding, my kingdom for a wedding” Is something you might be shouting if you fancy adding some drama to your big day (good drama that is, not the “Oh, my God, where’s the caterer?” sort). The Prince of Wales Theatre, London has plenty of period charm within its Art Deco building for you, and your guests, to enjoy. Fancy starting your married life on a war footing? Then consider HMS Belfast.
This Second World War battleship sits in a prime location on the Thames and offers a stunning cityscape for photographs and toasts. The boat is moored, too, so there’s no danger of a Poseidon Adventure spoiling your day. Avoncroft Museum, Bromsgrove is actually only down the road from us here at Pink Towers. This popular, historical outdoor site will suit any couple looking for a slice of history in stunning surroundings. Guests can wander around historic buildings that include an orchard and a wildflower meadow. Wedding traditions remain an important component of many gay and most straight wedding ceremonies. So who walks down the aisle at a gay wedding?   The short answer?  Whoever you want. What you choose to do and celebrate within your own wedding should be entirely up to you and your partner. Creating a wedding hashtag for a ceremony and reception isn’t every couple’s cup of tea but is it really so ridiculous when most of us use social media to document and organise our lives anyway.  Gay wedding hashtags are one example of how same-sex couples are creating new traditions.  Planning a wedding when you’re LGBTQ often means navigating heterosexual customs and gender-based norms.  This is one way that couples (gay or otherwise) can embrace modernity and add a bit of fun to their ceremony and reception.
